So, finally, there’s some solid confirmation (in the form of references in iOS 5.1 Beta code) that iPhone 5 does exist – and could very well be out before the end of next year.
Quite a lot has been rumored about the iPhone 5 features and iPhone 5 specs so far. Even though there isn’t enough proof for any of that, the speculations are all through some kind of a research into the existing trend at the fruit company’s quarters in Cupertino. We all expected the iPhone 5 to be released this October, but in the end, we all had the iPhone 4S instead.
It’s almost quite certain that the next iPhone to be released would be the iPhone 5 – although it would be the 6th gen iPhone (considering 3GS and 4S on the line). As to the sentimental factor, the iPhone 5 was probably the last iPhone project Steve Jobs was working on. Something on the lines of Steve’s disapproval for a 4-inch screen on the iPhone was heard on many websites recently – indicating something about the iPhone 5 specs. More on that in this post!

Okay, so let’s do a complete round-up of all the rumored iPhone 5 specifications that we’ve been seeing so far. This is a comprehensive list, and in all probability, many of these features might actually end up being on the iPhone 5 features list!
1. iPhone 5 Form Factor Could Be Bigger Than iPhone 4S?
Unlike iPhone 4, we’ve not had any testing prototype leaked out accidentally. This means all we have is speculation built upon speculation. Still, there are certain clues – like the 4-inch iPhone 5 screen – which could give a bit of a hint as to the form factor. We’re expecting a normal, iPhone 4S kind of a form-factor. All those rumors about a curved-glass display are out the window. In a lawsuit between Apple and Samsung, Apple suggested Samsung to go for curved-glass form-factors – which kind of proves that Apple isn’t taking that up for its iPhone 5.
Of course, we could expect the iPhone 5 to grow a bit bigger than the palm-friendly iPhone 4S or iPhone 4. There has been a constant need raised by iPhone users as to the screen size – and this 4-inch thing could probably be the answer to the need. But then, as we had posted earlies, the iPhone 5 could only have the display screen larger – not the whole body. That would make UI bigger, but the palm-friendliness remain unaltered.
2. iPhone 5 Could Come With a Greater Resolution
Another rumor that’s been doing the rounds recently is the resolution on the iPhone 5. Of all the iPhone 5 specs we heard, this was very impressive enough because so far, we thought the Retina Display was the state-of-the-art resolution one could ask for! Perhaps, with an increase in the UI size, the resolution could get stronger and users could expect a more brilliant video-watching experience. For the moment though, there’s not much cooking on this issue.
3. iPhone 5 Could Have A Quad-Core Processor
This would mark the beginning of a new CPU-arms race in the market. A dual-core processor for a smartphone has become a common thing these days. One of the chief competitions between Samsung smartphones running Android and Apple smartphones running iOS is the processor each boasts of. The A5 has outdone most Android-supporting processors that other companies have come up with, but according to certain rumors, Apple could be one-upping the race with an all-new, better-than-A6, quad-core processor!
Users have often complained that iPhone 4S is sometimes lagging in speed, and as a fix to this issue, Apple could be trying for the quad-core processor on its next-gen iPhone.
4. iPhone 5 Could Have 4G / LTE Capability?
We wrote on this sometime back. Will the iPhone 5 have 4G capability? Most likely, because Samsung got its Infuse 4G launched already!
In the network race, it would only be logical if Apple got an iPhone 5 specs sheet that had 4G support. As to LTE, that’s doubtful. But bringing out an LTE iPhone 5 would be a great boon for buyers.

5. More Gesture-based – No Home Button
Oops! No home button? Well, yeah, quite possibily. Apple has moved to improved gesture based controls through its iOS 5. So it is quite possible that the home screen might be dropped for enhanced gesture-controls – one large interface change in iPhone 5 specifications.
6. iPhone 5 Features – Storage Capacity, Battery Problems and OS
This one is an actual bummer. With iPhone 4S, we heard the 64GB getting the face-lift. It was being marketed well on par with the 32GB and 16GB. So having an iPhone also means having a smartphone with huge memory capacity. The iPhone 5 specifications might very well include 64GB versions too – considering the sales reports of the iPhone 4S 64GB version – but going beyond that would probably not be a reality for now.
The iPhone 4S still has battery issues and even with the updates on the iOS, there’s no reprieve out of that. It would be natural for the engineers to work on the battery issue fix – and it would only be logical for them to get an iPhone 5 which is not ridden with battery issues.
7. Fire-proof iPhone
Stunned with this iPhone 5 feature?? Well, why not to be… New iPhone 5 is likely to be the fire-proof and the company has organized a patent app for highly developed material which is halogen-free flame retardant. It could be incorporated in the iPhone 5 specifications to build this new iPhone 5 and other Apple products.
8. Wireless Charging
Well… this iPhone 5 specification would give you another break! But you never know the wireless charging is really creating a mass appeal. It could be possible with the inductive wireless charging technology. If you could juice up the battery of iPhone 5 then this will be a big hit. So until iPhone 5 release date comes and the Apple release new smart phone with super cool iPhone 5 features, imagine charging this smartphone without cable.
9. More Speed
4G technology, the latest standard in network technology will help to build up the network fourth generation that will give you more speed…more fun on the fly with outstanding iPhone 5 specs!
10. NFC Payment
According to the reports, this NFC (Near Field Communication) technology is under testing and if it comes, then user will be able to make countless payment through scanner. However, according to the ibtimes, the analysts at Jefferies are expecting that this NFC technology will be revealed in the iPhone 5S (probably next version of iPhone 5). Such iPhone 5 features will definitely create waves in the market.
11. iPhone 5 and Nano-SIM?
Way back, sometime before the rumors began spreading like wildfire, there was this strange but thoughtful remark about iPhone 5 supporting Nano-SIMs to make the design compact – or keep it unaltered (from iPhone 4S) despite a size-increase in the display.
A Nano-SIM would actually be a thing of the past even in 2012, considering the developments and supporting devices that we’ve got so far. Still, there’s no saying what Apple is up to!
The iPhone 5 Release Date Speculations
iPhone 5 is in development, quite obviously, considering the references in iOS 5.1 Beta code. There are no leaks or confirmed sources from manufacturers as yet – which could help us fix a possible date of release. But, we can make a safe guess with a late-2012 release (much like iPhone 4S which got a late 2011 release). Of course, this would depend on Apple’s iPad 3 plans too. Is Apple eying for a simultaneous release of iPad 3 and iPhone 5?
As regards the iPhone 5 price, it wouldn’t be surprising if the cost was considerably larger than that of iPhone 4S. Considering the economics of smartphones, the trend is upward as of now!

Actually, the android market is just as big and satisfying as the app store. Plus, alot of the apps on the app store you have to pay for. Those same apps on the android market are free. The EXACT same apps… Granted, Apple used to be the biggest thing in mobile electronics/cell phones… but Google is catching up to them FAST. They are perfecting the Android experience give more versatility with personalizing the device… as well as giving apple worthy competition as far as hardware goes too. The only thing that Apple has that’s still better than any android device is the Retina display.
I used to think the same thing you did. I used to love my Droid, I loved Android etc etc. I have now come to realize how ridiculous Google and android are.
First, with the apps, you are correct most apps on the android market are free, and are similar to apples. However look at how many apps are similar to other apps on the android market. Lots and lots of viruses. Which is a side product of open source content. ANYONE can make ANYTHING they want. Apple does not allow this, thus you pay for the apps, goes with the old adage of quality over quantity.
Secondly, support. Every Iphone is guaranteed, “guaranteed” to be supported for the next three years. Meaning that when you buy the 4 or the 5 it will receive updates to software and firmware all the way to the iphone 7 for the 4 and 8 for the 5. Now look at ever single android phone, once it’s released it is already behind. Already outdated and already a year or less from not being supported any longer.
Prime example their is not one phone out now of android that will receive the ice cream sandwich update, in order to get that, you will have to purchase a NEW phone. Same goes for android tablets as well. So many companies competing that you will not got support for your phone after 1 year I guarantee it, and their are charts online that back this up, and that 1 year is a hope, not a guarantee.
This is why I am holding onto my original Droid, that is right the very first one that came out, for an Iphone 5. Google and android have become just as corrupt and proprietary as Apple. For me, I am going with apple as far as phones are concerned, because if I am going to purchase something, I want to know that it is a quality product, not just something to put on the market to force you to buy.

First the retina display is made by LG, soooo just to add it to the Android pro side: NOVA display on LG phones.
While talking about screens, qHD + Super AMOLED = Best screen. I love being able to see my screen in direct sunlight. Plus the colors don’t get washed out like the iPhone.
As to the Android phones and updates, that really matters on the company. Samsung is okay about updates, not the best. LG still updates my near 3 year old phone :D (lol I’m an LG fan-boy I’ll admit) Motorola is good at updates as well and HTC is just plain awesome about keeping their phones going.
One thing though, considering that android is open source, I already have ice cream sandwich on my phone. Thank you online community. PS open source does not mean viruses. That is just the apple ignorant talking for you. Bet ya when school told you that if everyone dressed the same no one would be made fun of. Pssssh pull ur head out ur butt man. Windows / OSX have tons of viruses and both are not open-source. Ubuntu, shoot I can download anything I want without a care in the world.
Another PS OSX is a rip off of Linux. Everything new you get with Lion, Snow, Leopard, Tiger. All came from improves made by Linux ranging from brand new to a few years old. Please do some research before you make claims of viruses and knowledge about them, or lack there of.
Oh almost forget, I seem to remember somebody hacking apple a year or two back and accessing app market files and consumer info. Well I guess to apple people that never happened because apple said it didn’t.
I sell phones and I can tell you, the only people I sell iphones too are teenage girls and their moms, and old people. And to add to that, I am beginning to switch old people more towards WP7. Much easier to use for them plus its great for business.
Just thought I would point some facts out for you and your argument. Iphones are going to do the same thing apple computers did. They were HUGE for a decade and a few years after then everyone will realize that they can get better things for less money and stop buying them. This time though there is no steve jobs to bail them out.
What most of these Android junkies haven’t realized is that Apple has a wonderful marketing scheme. They market mainly to people who enjoy carrying around an Apple product and the ability to have both an iPod and a phone in their palm. The iPhone beholds a name that everyone knows and loves. THe iPhone keeps it simple to its owners so they don’t have to learn some crazy new system that Android has been trying to market. Apple will forever reign over Google, because no matter what, iPhones are so much more popular than other phones. No one really freaks out over having “2 less processor chips than Android” and cries about how their phone cost $700. iPhones are better. Hands down.

actually guys there is a new face emerging among the mobil world and its amd. for the people who now amd they are quite amazing at stuffing cores into a single die. but the funny thing is that they will porbally not release their processor to apple because intel is their comptier. so just saying a hex core chip could pop out and apple wont have it android would have it. So to conclude this android will run laps around apple if apple can not kick up its cpu department to full gear cause amd all ready relased a octa core prossecor into the desktop world. So all amd would have to do is make a hex core version for the latop then slowly intergrate into the mobil phone world. and the already have their quad core apu which are like a cpu and a gpu fused together and consume less power. So to my point android is gonna kick some apple ass in the next 2 to 3 years
As long as Android continues to have a heavily fragmented OS, Bananna phones and malware apps I am sticking with Apple. Most people do not really want a phone that is barely manageable in one hand. Once Android aka Samsung (seeing as Motorola and HTC are fringe companies with little profit) makes a 4-4.3 inch cutting edge phone with no malware and a battery that compete with the Motolrola Razr Maxx (at least it has a good battery if nothing else) then I will consider jumping bandwagon. Oh yeah remember The Apple fanboi snobbery over Instagram it was annoying but to be fair is the Fandriod asshattery and gloating any better?

This thing will be all hype, people who can afford it will buy it because their uncle/cousin/brother/nephew has it (or they have the apple hard on), and it’ll sell millions. Iphone will continue to sell second to android, and apple will continue to make their 8000% markup on their “fad” products. Like all iproducts, it will have less features than the competition, be more strictly controlled, and cost more money. Hopefully they can at least give it enough good features that it can outlast the others for more than a few months. Most likely, a year after purchase everyone will be saying “I cant wait for the iphone 6 to come out” which is exactly what apple wants them to do. Congrats on opting for the corporate ramming.

Ahh… now v can see ios catchin up wid android.. notification centre similar to notification bar, over the air updates-some freedom atlast, hard key for camera, ability to view many notifications without opening lock + few things better than android like icloud, multitouch functionality.. thanku android for waking apple and helpin their customers recieve a major update.. both hardware and software wise.. dual core n better ram.. thank god apple learnt some good things from samsun,htc,sony.. competition leads to better prod. always even when company is at top. but i still feel these features have been in android for over 2yrs now.add something to it when u release iph. 5 finally and il be apple fanboy again.. coz for now i have shifted to galaxy s2.. :( but m lovin it :) so get something great to win me back apple

It all seems to be the betamax vs VHS argument all over again. It is not down to specifications but the quality and quantity of content.
I agree that lot’s of other phones have these features already, but I have joined the dark side of the iPhone from Windows/Andriod versions just because the applications and integration just works.
Press one button and push your video to you cheap apple TV, share the applications between the ipad and iphone….

I agree with Graham although Apple may seem a bit slow on the uptake of the latest greatest technology, everything I have that’s made by Apple is stable, reliable, and just works and works harmoniously well together! My iMac, iPodTouch, and my iPhone.
I have both an HTC Evo and iPhone 3GS. Although I love my Android phone it is very glitchy lately, with slow downs, auto restarts, and SD connection problems. I feel like i have taken a step back to my frustrating days of working with Windows, just not as bad as actually working with Windows.
I look forward to the new Apple iOS5 and upgrading to the new iPhone5.
Along with many of the other speculative new features I hope they really do make the iPhone5 the new world phone by having this model offer both the CDMA and GSM network built in for all our top service providers .

No matter what apple do from here on out is will always appear that they are merely imitating the other smartphones already out and already out performing there existing products. Look at the rumored specs for the galaxy S3
4.6in HD handset packing a Quadl-core processor, a staggering 12MP camera, and an industry boundary-smashing 2GB RAM. As well as 3d Models being released… The difference is these specs will come to reality, Your dribble above is merely fantasy for the most part!!
And i love it when they compare apples app store to the android market, maybe you should take a look one day, we get everything you get as well as exclusive applications to GOOGLE, One of the worlds biggest companies responsible for revolutionizing the web.. what do you do when you want to search for something? Oh that’s right you get your iPhone out and google it!!!! Just because you have over 4000 fart apps to choose from and we only have 10 Boo hoo :(

Samsung are merely the FAB supplier of these chips to Apple and Apple co-own 100% of the A5 architecture (with legacy pre-license agreements through ARM) and their forthcoming quad architecture.
A6 chip will NOT be accessible commercially to Samsung (which is why G3 is using Samsung’s own Quad design based upon Arm 9 )
All I can suggest is: do not underestimate the technology creation ability that Apple possesses ….it’s not just marketing that Apple are experts in,,,

Remember back in the day when Japan was ahead of the world in cell phones? They probably would still be had Steve Jobs not stepped in. But they, like the rest of us who aren’t hackers, don’t care who makes the processor, or where the screen comes from, or what software you promise me, it just has to fucking work… So now they choose the iphone.

If the iPhone wants to do some impact it needs a 4+inch screen, 4g , higher resolution, better camera, the “rumored” A6 quad core chip, bigger/longer lasting battery, new look, better speakers would be nice the sound now isn’t bad but could be a lot better. and a super-hydrophobic coating would be sweet

I like Apple, but not as much as Android. I mean android has the best market and at the top with that, Apple is once again 2nd place. Android already came out with 4G already 2 years ago and the new update with Apple may include 4g with the new iPhone 5 IOS. Another thing is the iPhones all have the same design and layout while Samsung and them are changing unless its another generation of one of them like the Galaxy. Which brings me to the iPhone; every generation that came out had problems and so with the cool features that Apple is putting out is because they are trying to hide all of the bugs and making you think that these bugs are suppose to be common in these (advance) features. I don’t have anything against Apple but I just like Android. I do want to learn all of their features and specs of the iPhone 5 to have them prove that Apple can keep up the world of Smartphones.

If you want real facts try going through apple’s information and announcement website. When apple says there will be iPhone 5 I will believe it. i think that v cannot guess how the phone will be and by my side i think that the iPhone 5 would be in a total different design coz iPhone 3G and 3Gs was the same and not iPhone 4 and 4s are in a same design so hope this time apple makes a bit big difference and i need the screen for the coming iPhone would be at least 4″inch

Latest news for the iPhone 5. With a whopping 3.49 inch screen we made the screen a little smaller so that we can have a better battery which last 10.001 hours instead of 10. People work from 9 to 5 so 8 hours is plenty. Anybody needing more than 8 hours needs to get their priorities straight hooray hooray hooray we got six cores there so that you could do hardcore like porn computers supercomputers with 6 cores 4 not six hooray hooray because you need it. Stevo would’ve been proud but Johnny Ives messed up Apple big time.
iPhone 5 is expected to b a transparent phone. which have screen on both sides and bit longer then iPhone 4s. and i may release near about December 2012 on in January 2013.

in my opinion i think iphone out does android all day every day. yet android isnt bad i just like apple because theyre very convenient. they dont go with these super larg touch screens that are too big and uncomfortable to hold. they go for a phone that people will enjoy using all day every day.
like for example. i had an infuse 4g and i loved the phone for a bout the first few weeks. then it just started to just get annoying having to lug aroud a big phone. its just not as convenient and appealing as the iphone is.
all you people who have a problem with I phone and all the people who have made fun of apple I phone this is for you guys
1) first of all you people are poverty striken and fall below the poverty line and your life is pathetic and it sucks and you yourself hate your life because you cannot afford a iPhone therefore you decide to make fun of it …..by doing that you think you’ll feel better but your life is still the same…so get a life losers..
2) all the people who compare the I phone with the cheap phone that you are stuck up with -i don’t think you people use your phone for anything apart from making or rejecting calls and at the maximum watching……i hope u know things about apps and all, because your cheap phones don’t have the worlds best operating system on it (i hope you miserable people already know what an operating system is) which also has the worlds highest number of apps designed for it….if you plan to buy a phone only based on the hardware it has, buy a phone of China make…you’ll get better specifications at cheaper prices but don’t ever forget those are made in China…
So instead off mocking apple just because you can’t have one…just stay quiet and mind your business and pray that your miserable life gets better….
And always remember, you can have the worlds best hardware, but if the software which runs on it sucks, you’re better off without a phone…
And just because you can’t have apple, doesn’t mean it’s bad…you’ll know it only after using a apple, so either you can get a apple product or just shut up and stop commenting…..
Wether u like or not ..”iphone is the most over rated & over priced phone ever evolved.”itz also back dated..u can see all the futures present in iphone …which may seems gorjeous to u…itz insane …cuz many smartphones had this futures long time ago.itz also very much over priced ..according to itz fetures…u can buy 2 smart phones bttr than iphone….so,itz back dated & over priced!!!!! But iphone is the first touch screen phone…. That’s y i show little respect to iphone… Otherwise..iphone is a copy cat!.
What about the camera? Any changes? Increase in MP?
Honestly I don’t like the other smartphones huge screens.. Ok 4.5 in wooo, but I can’t hold the phone with one hand to touch the top of the screen and bottom with just my thumb. I like being able to text with one hand or let alone hold the phone with one hand and still be able to somewhat use it. That’s why I dislike most of the smart phones.
And also the touch sensitivity isn’t as good as the iPhones from what I’ve experienced. I’ve had a few other smart phones, 2 android tablets, they both sucked with resolution and sensitivity.
