Recent report from DigiTimes claims that Taiwan based manufacturer Pegatron Technology has received such a big order from Apple to manufacture the most awaited iPhone 5. According to DigiTimes, Pegatron, one of the Apple’s partners in Taiwan, has landed an order for 15 million iPhone 5 units to be shipped by September 2011. Reports also states that the gadgets will be manufactured in the Shanghai, China based plant.
“The sources pointed out that as the iPhone 5, which does not seem to have any major update from iPhone 4, is already set for shipment in September, they are already started supplying components to Pegatron with Pegatron’s plants in Shanghai, China also recently started hiring for manpower.”
Pegatron Technology has been manufacturing the Verizon CDMA iPhone 4 for Apple. We should keep in mind that reports from DigiTimes are very patchy with iPhone and iPad. However, the rumor of the iPhone 5 release date seems reasonably accurate with minor hardware upgrade along with major upgrade in Software in form of iOS 5.
