A recent press release showed Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs resign, the news which has on one hand shocked the world and on the other has left many wondering about not only the long-term, but also the short term-how will this affect the launch of the iPhone 5?
While some say that the impact of Steve Jobs resign on iPhone 5 release date won’t affect the launch some say the delay proves that it has been affected already. The question is what does Steve Jobs stepping down mean for Apple, smart phones and the tech industry. Is it that serious an issue?
Throughout the summer the discussion was on the widespread usage of NFC technology being based off of the iPhone 5’s NFC features. While this question still remains unanswered, the Apple’s CEO, Steve Jobs resign has investors, techies, mac-elitists and the blogosphere all in a fix. The release of the iPhone 5 is yet to get an exact date, and has already been delayed a month. Will the resignation further slow the process?
Rumours are that Jobs stepping down in favor of Tim Cook was carefully planned out. It is also believed that the timing of the announcement was done so as not to coincide with the launch of the next iPhone, an announcement that is rumored to be taking place next month. Seems Steve Jobs did not want this news hanging over people’s heads at the time nearing iPhone 5 launch and he made sure that before he made public the news of his resign the next iPhone’s dates, hardware and software had all been already set.
Now the only thing about the iPhone 5 that would seemingly change is the person who will announce it on stage at Apple’s fall event. And that person is believed to be Tim Cook who will be present for the Verizon iPhone 4 announcements for the next iPhone, bringing one amazing era to an end and usher in the start of another.
The man who is APPLE itself, Steve Jobs and Apple stock go hand-in-hand and the reaction to his retirement has seen stock falling by 7 percent. July 26 saw a drop in stock market value from $348 billion to $403.4. This was in the wake of the news which has come before the release of the iPhone 5, which is expected to debut sometime in September.

It comes out on Sept 1st. But Ive been searching google & latest news doesnt seem to know for sure. Am I one of the first to find out the date from a rep? I just got off the phone with an AT&T rep as I was calling about a billing issue, I then said that since my contract is up I’d like to upgrade but am trying to decide wether to wait. She told me that the iPhone 5 comes out Sept 1st! But that prices & info hasn’t been released yet. But I know how much it will be since it’s always $200 plus 2yr contract.
Rest in peace, Steve Jobs – one of he greatest men in history. My prayers are with the family, loved ones and all at Apple.
